BREAKING Jet2 airplane circles over Merseyside for greater than an hour because it does ‘a minimum of 15 laps’
A Jet2 plane was seen circling over Merseyside for more than an hour. Flight LS1761, which departed from Manchester Airport bound for Agadir in Morocco, was observed making multiple loops around the St Helens and Rainford area around midday on Sunday, November 16.
The aircraft took off about 10 minutes late at 10.42am and was scheduled to touch down in Agadir around 3.30pm, but it has been spotted circling the area ever since.
According to the latest travel information from Jet2, the plane is set to divert back to Manchester Airport and land there around 2.10pm. As per the airline’s website, the flight is expected to depart Manchester Airport again at 3.15pm and arrive in Morocco around 8.10pm today.

Enthusiasts on a flight-spotting Facebook page reported that the plane had completed more than 15 laps of the area.
Some have speculated that the plane is burning fuel before it lands back at Manchester Airport, as the Boeing 737 is unable to dump fuel, so the pilots have to burn it off. The ECHO reached out to Jet2 and Manchester Airport for comment, reports the Liverpool Echo.
