This is the moment thugs steal £3,000 from the boot of an elderly man’s car as he climbs into the driver’s seat.
Police are on the hunt for three men suspected of being involved in swiping the cash from the 90-year-old’s vehicle in Dudley, West Midlands at around 10.20am on October 20.
The victim had just withdrawn the money from a nearby bank moments earlier.
Now CCTV footage has been released of the incident and shows the elderly man approaching his car with a walking stick in one hand and a blue plastic bag in the other.
He places the bag – which was filled with cash not visible in the clip – into the boot as other vehicles pass along the road and pedestrians walk on the pavement of the busy street.
The man then shuts the boot and walks slowly to the front of his car, before opening the door on the driver’s side and trying to get into the seat.
Just as he is attempting to get his right leg into the vehicle and shut the door behind him, a man appears from the pavement behind the car and approaches the boot.
He then appears to open the boot slightly, take a quick glance to see if anyone is watching, and reach inside to quickly grab the plastic bag, all while the elderly man attempts to shut his driver’s side door just a few feet away.

West Midlands Police (WMP) has also released CCTV images of three men connected with the theft last month.
One man, wearing a flat cap, is seen with hands in coat pockets entering the sliding doors of a store.
Another is on camera walking on the pavement wearing a red woolly hat, while the final wanted man is standing in the street, sporting a long black padded coat.
The force said that CCTV footage showed all three men in the area following the victim.
Police added the elderly man had just withdrawn the cash and placed it in the boot of his car along with other documents.
‘We’re asking for the public’s help to identify three men after a 90-year-old man had £3,000 stolen from his car,’ a WMP spokesperson said.
