NHS docs’ blunt warning over ‘nightmare’ Christmas decorations for one grim purpose

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – but not if you work in A&E. With an already stretched NHS, doctors are having to expand other things this festive season

NHS doctors have unofficially warned people over ‘nightmare’ Christmas decorations and ornaments for this one bizarre reason – and you might want to look away if you’re a prude.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, though some might want to draw the boundaries on what makes them happy this holiday season. It comes after one important statue in Wales was decorated with something a little different this festive season.

In a bunch of hilarious – yet concerning – videos posted by health professionals on TikTok, doctors have raised ‘awareness’ about the festive-themed products they have had to remove from the bums of adults in A&E.

Videos posted a doctor, who goes by the name ‘Dr.McChubby’, revealed the ‘nightmares’ he spotted in two bargain chain stores after going viral for listing a number of items he’s had to remove from people’s bottoms over his career.

Christmas items found inside you in A&E’, one video was titled. While showing a large tree ornament, he said: “Healthcare nightmare. It’s on clearance. But, guess what?

“It will not clear ‘it’. Don’t try it.”

He then filmed a row of baubles beautifully hung on the shelf, before he concerningly added: “Look at the fine selection of things that will bring you to A&E.”

The medical professional then showed a candle decoration and joked that because it had a ‘flared base’ – like sex toys tend to do – that it was a ‘yes’.

Although he quickly backtracked and said: “Pointy top? No.”

The doctor quipped: “Now they’re just asking for it because why is Santa phallic shaped?” And, you know what, that isn’t a crazy question.

He then filmed an ornament of a bear with a nutcracker uniform and worryingly admitted: “Oh, yes, that’s definitely coming to A&E this year.” His wife and fellow doctor joked that another decoration had its eyes closed because of what it might ‘see’ this Christmas…

The doctor then visited another store and noticed that some of the products on the shelves might end up elsewhere other than the mantelpiece this year.

He stroked a glittery Christmas tree ornament, before he shared: “So pretty and has a flared base. But, it’s so very rough and that’s not going to feel great. Don’t do it.”

It comes after various other medical staff, both in the UK and the US, have warned about the types of injuries they begin to see across the festive period.

Many noted that just because many Christmas decorations have a flared base, it doesn’t mean they’re supposed to be inserted up the bum for pleasure.

Stunned social media users were quick to take to the comments after they realised that Christmas is a prime time for bottom-related incidents.

One quipped: “We love a flared base in healthcare, don’t we?” Another added: “One of my besties worked in a hospital and the things she’s told me people stick up inside is alarming.”

While someone else added: “Since Christmas decorations have started to be put out, I’ve had multiple doctors’ videos in my feed about not putting the décor ‘up there’ despite the flared base lol [laugh out loud]. “

Someone else giggled: “I can’t go shopping without thinking ‘oh look another one with a flared base’. You are ruining Christmas shopping for me.”

Meanwhile, a fifth said: “I’m SO GLAD I no longer work in retail.”

And this person was eager to ask: “Random question: after the item is extracted can the patient take it home?”

With the A&E doctor responding: “Yes.”

It was reported in 2021 that people getting items wedged up their bum has cost the NHS more than £3million between 2010-2019. According to the latest figures in 2022, there were 514 procedures to remove foreign objects from rectums between April 2021 and March 2022, according to NHS data.
