Keir Starmer holds talks with Donald Trump over his humiliating peace plan ultimatum to Zelensky – as ‘involved’ European leaders push again towards Ukraine deal

The Prime Minister has spoken to both Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky amid European pushback against the US President’s controversial 28-point peace plan.

Sir Keir Starmer has agreed that their teams will work together on the US president’s peace proposal for Ukraine during talks in Geneva tomorrow, Downing Street said.

It comes as the Eastern European country faced growing pressure agree to a controversial 28-point plan by Thursday.

The proposal would force it to give up its land, cut its army in half and hold elections within 100 days.

The deal is said to have been negotiated by Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Kremlin representative Kirill Dmitriev.

It comes shortly after the Ukrainian President said he and the British leader ‘covered many nuances of diplomatic work’ in a bid to end the war with Russia

Of their phone call, he said: ‘We had a long conversation and covered many nuances of diplomatic work in planning the peace process.

‘Coordination will continue, and I am grateful to the British society for their support.
