Trans intercourse offender who abused a teenage woman earlier than saying he was a girl known as Natalie is held in male jail – as a result of he’s biologically a person

A biologically male child molester who sexually assaulted a teenager before adopting a female identity has been sent to a men’s prison, the Mail can reveal.

Natalie Wolf was previously known as Ryan Haley but adopted the female moniker sometime after attacking the girl in Washington, Tyne and Wear, several years ago.

The 47–year–old’s victim later found the courage to report the offence to police. Last week, after being convicted of sexual assault, Wolf was finally jailed.

Despite identifying as female, the pervert has been sent to a men’s prison as they are biologically male.

Wolf is currently at HMP Durham, where they had been held on remand while awaiting trial for the sexual offence.

A social media profile for Wolf features a header image of a blushing female cartoon character in a suggested state of nudity.

The character, from a Japanese animation, is described as being between the ages of 15 and 17 in character biographies online.

Under rules introduced by Rishi Sunak‘s Government, transgender women are still sent to male prisons if they retain male genitalia or have been convicted of violent or sexual offences.

The rules apply even if a trans person has a gender recognition certificate, which legally recognises an individual’s ‘affirmed gender’ in the UK.

Trans women may only be housed in female prisons in the most ‘exceptional’ cases – and require the approval of both the director–general of the prison service and the justice secretary.

Any trans women who were in female jails before the policy was enacted remain there – but will be sent to male prisons should they offend again.

Dominic Raab, who was Deputy Prime Minister at the time, said the policy set out a ‘clear, common–sense approach’ to housing trans prisoners.

A similar policy has since been enacted in Scotland, which has its own devolved justice system.

Newcastle Crown Court had heard that the woman had been groped by Wolf – then still known as Ryan Haley – at the age of 13 and feared she was going to be raped.

But she bravely read out a victim impact statement in court, facing down her abuser, whom she told: ‘Ryan Haley wants everyone to know him as Natalie Wolf. But in my eyes he is Ryan Haley, the man who sexually abused me.’

‘I am doing this not just for me but for all the children and women who have been sexually abused by men,’ she added.

The woman said that she had been left with ‘shame and self–doubt’ and that she saw her body as a ‘battlefield’ while watching Wolf adopt a female identity.

She said of Wolf: ‘Watching them celebrate their life, their body and their choices feels like salt in my wounds.

‘Ryan, you destroyed me as a child, I kept this inside me for many years until I was strong enough to report it.

‘Today I got the chance to read my victim statement in court. Today I get the chance to read my victim statement in court, today I am finally going to get the justice I have waited for.

‘Today, Ryan Haley, you are going to get what you deserve.’

Wolf was referred to by female pronouns in court but had been held on remand at men’s prison HMP Durham.

The offender, from Byker in Newcastle, sought to deny sexual activity with a child, claiming the victim was ‘lying through her teeth’ – but was convicted by the jury after a trial, and jailed for three and a half years.

In a bizarre self–representation, Wolf claimed to be the victim of a conspiracy at the hands of ‘hypnotised’ jurors, police and lawyers.

A judge told the pervert – who has a personality disorder and long–standing mental health issues – to seek help while handing down a sexual harm prevention order and a requirement to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

Judge Gavin Doig said: I want you to understand, you are not the victim of a conspiracy, you are not the victim at all.’

Adding that Wolf had shown ‘no remorse whatsoever’, he continued: ‘I urge you to spend your time in custody to reflect on your behaviour – the behaviour that has led you to be in prison now.’

Wolf suggested at the end of the hearing that an appeal would be imminent.

The number of transgender prisoners behind bars in England and Wales is rising year on year.

There are 339 transgender prisoners spread across 82 of the 123 public and private prisons in England in Wales as of March 2025, according to official figures from the Ministry of Justice.

Of those, 245 who are biologically male but identify as female are held in male establishments. Three biologically male prisoners who identify as female are held in women’s prisons.

Of the 64 trans prisoners in women’s prisons, 61 were transgender men who remained biologically female.
