Everything you need to know about claims the Madeleine McCann imposter was ‘fame hungry’

  • The Madeleine McCann imposter was “fame hungry” and displayed tell-tale signs she wasn’t the missing British tot, claims an expert.
  • Julia Wandelt, 24, bombarded the McCann family with calls, messages, and confronted them in person. She was found guilty of harassment at Leicester Crown Court in November, and sentenced to six months in jail.
  • Before her campaign began, forensic investigator and medium Dr Fia Johansson spent dozens of hours with her. The 41-year-old was in touch with Wandelt in February 2023, shortly after she launched her “I Am Madeleine McCann” instagram account.
  • During her time with Wandelt, Dr Johansson said she displayed a number of suspicious signs, including insisting on a DNA test and switching personalities to match the audience.
  • The doctor from California, said: “Despite knowing the opposite, I kept telling her ‘I know you’re Madeleine McCann’. As a forensic professional, you cannot break rapport. If I told her I didn’t believe her, she would have disappeared and we would have lost access to crucial information. I believe she was just looking for fame and Instagram followers.”
