Second Championship recreation deserted and one other halted in Championship chaos
A second Championship match has been abandoned today after another was suspended within five minutes of each other.
Blackburn Rovers’ clash against Sheffield Wednesday has been abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch after the referee paused the game for 10 minutes.
The game at Ewood Park has been suspended after a torrential downpour left the officials concerned regarded the state of the pitch. A post from Blackburn’s social media read: “The referee has stopped play and ordered the players off the pitch due to the wet surface.”
