The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued urgent alerts for two snacks from Aldi and Lidl, with the affected products being sold in stores across the UK.
Aldi and Lidl have both issued urgent food recalls in the past few days, urging customers not to consume some food items.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has raised alerts for two snacks from these budget retailers, affecting stores across England, Scotland and Wales.
Shoppers are being alerted about these products, so it’s crucial to check if you’ve got them stashed away at home. One is being recalled due to a potential allergen, which could pose a risk for anyone with an intolerance to it.
Here are the latest details from the FSA, as reported by the Mirror, along with what you should do if you’ve bought either of these snacks.
Aldi Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s
As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling its Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s because the product may contain peanuts. This means the product could be a health risk for anyone with a peanut allergy.
The product details are as follows:
- Pack size: 121g.
- Best before: All dates.
If you’ve purchased this item and suffer from a peanut allergy, avoid consuming it entirely. Instead, take it back to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund.
Lidl Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews
Lidl GB is recalling its Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews as the product may contain glass, presenting a potential choking hazard and making it unsafe to eat.
The product details are as follows:
- Pack size: 125g.
- Best before: June 28, 2026.
If you’ve purchased this product, Lidl advises not to consume it. Instead, return it to the store where you bought it for a refund.
This comes just days after several chocolate bars were pulled from UK shops due to potential “health risks”.
The FSA revealed that retailer TJ Morris was removing Milka Hazelnut, Milka Whole Nut, and Milka Oreo Brownie chocolates from stores because allergen information wasn’t displayed in English on the packaging.
It stated: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, an allergy to hazelnuts (nuts) and/or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease. The affected products were sold by TJ Morris at Home Bargains.”
