A bull has left terrified families living in fear for months as it roams the streets, attacks locals, and damages property, despite repeated police interventions, fines, and desperate pleas
A rampaging bull has been wreaking havoc in a local community for months. Roaming freely through the streets, the big animal has been damaging property and even attacking residents.
Desperate residents have pleaded for help as police have confirmed they have already intervened multiple times in attempts to stop the giant bovid. “This has been going on for at least six months,” a local resident told Croatian news outlet 24sata.
The resident added: “At first, he didn’t bother anyone, but now he’s entered our yard four times. As soon as I drive out in my car, he appears, as if he’s waiting for the moment.
“The children are scared and don’t want to go outside.” The chaotic situation has been unfolding in Gračac, in Croatia’s Zadar County. According to Zadar police, they have responded to five separate incidents in the Gračac area between June and November 8, 2025, after receiving complaints from locals about uncontrolled domestic animals, specifically, the angry bull.
Police stated: “Police officers from the Gračac Border Police Station responded to each report. In three cases, elements of misdemeanour offences under the Law on Offences Against Public Order and Peace were established, and the owner was sanctioned.”
Police also noted that all relevant bodies, including municipal services and the State Inspectorate, have been informed of the situation, 24sata reported. Despite these efforts, residents have continued to report that nothing has changed.
A resident claimed that the bull isn’t the only problem, stating: “The whole herd, including cows and goats, regularly roams the streets, even along the railway tracks. We’re constantly calling the owner and the police.
“When he’s not home, the livestock are on the road. The owner says he’s sold the bull and is waiting for the new owner to collect him, but he’s been saying that for a month, and the bull is still here.”
Residents claim they still fear for the safety of their children, who can no longer play freely in the street. They have even revealed that the bull has already attacked a man.
A resident recalled: “That man was in the field. When the bull charged at him, he somehow managed to escape up a tree and called the police.
“When the officers arrived, the bull charged at them too, so they had to fire shots into the air to scare him off.”
Despite fines and interventions, the problem reportedly remains unresolved, and the people of Gračac say they just want to be protected and able to leave their homes in peace.
