A Brit schoolgirl was pulled from the sea in Costa Brava and given CPR on the beach after getting into difficulty while swimming on a school trip. She’s believed to be in a critical condition.
Emergency responders tried to save the life of the 14-year-old girl who came close to drowning in the Costa Brava resort of Lloret de Mar. She was on a school trip and it has now emerged a teacher jumped into the water to help her before police and firefighters dragged her out of the sea.
Footage from the scene, published by a local paper, showed paramedics and police gathered around the youngster on the sand as they performed CPR on her. One of the officers seemed to be holding a drip.

The Brit girl was then seen being taken away on a stretcher as horrified bystanders watched on. The area was cordoned off until the ambulance took the girl to hospital. Local reports suggest she was given CPR for around half an hour.
One of the police officers involved in the rescue had to be treated for hypothermia. Video footage published today showed quite rough sea conditions.
Witness Carme Rigart said: “I was able to see the whole scene from the balcony of my flat opposite the beach. Very good work by the local police, fire brigade, the regional Mossos d’Esquadra police and, above all, Civil Protection workers.
“They managed to rescue the young girl and performed CPR, which saved her life. Hopefully, she will not suffer any lasting effects.”

Another witness, Cintiha Schenfeld, added: “I was there, and the police were among the first to arrive.
“They did not allow anyone else to enter the water because there were already two officers in, and until the fire brigade arrived with the appropriate equipment, no one else was allowed in.”
Meanwhile, a woman and her unborn baby have tragically died after being hit by a vehicle while walking across the entrance to a car park.
The woman was with her husband and three-year-old son when she was hit while walking across the entrance to a car park on George Street in Hornsby, north Sydney, around 8pm on Friday. A teen driver with a provisional licence has now been charged in connection and could face up to 10 years in prison.
A Kia Carnival was reportedly turning into the car park of the Hornsby Railway Station when it stopped to let them pass. A white BMW driven by a P-plater allegedly then crashed into the back of the Kia, which then hit the woman.
Paramedics treated the 33-year-old, who was eight months pregnant, before she was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. Tragically, neither the mum or baby could be saved.
