World War 3 could be just around the corner, top British military expert Colonel Philip Ingram has warned, mapping out a chilling scenario that could erupt into devastating conflict in just a few years
World War 3 might erupt sooner than we think, a military expert has warned. A mapped out chain of chilling events predicts that in just four years, global tensions will potentially explode.
The dreaded WWIII could become a horrifying reality as soon as 2029, British military expert Colonel Philip Ingram alerted. Colonel Ingram has mapped out a chilling chain of events that could see simmering global tensions explode into all-out conflict.
As rival powers clash over Ukraine, Taiwan, and beyond, the colonel and other defence analysts say the world is facing its most dangerous security crisis since the Cold War.
Fears that a single misstep could spark a devastating new world war have been rising. Ingram has consequently issued an urgent warning: the next world war could be brewing right now in the world’s most dangerous hotspots.
“The seeds of a global war could sprout from existing flashpoints that have already destabilised the international order,” Ingram said. He pointed to a possible shaky peace deal in Ukraine, which could see Russia tighten its grip on the Donbas region and feel entitled to occupy spaces further into Europe, the International Business Times (IBT) reported.
If Moscow gets away with it, other authoritarian regimes might be tempted to follow suit, knowing the West’s interventions are becoming exhausted. Additionally, China’s moves in the South China Sea and its desire to take back Taiwan are raising tensions.
If Beijing decides to launch an attack on Taiwan’s Kinmen Islands, as some experts fear, the world’s superpowers could be forced into a deadly showdown, as per the IBT. And with North Korea and Iran seemingly ready to take on more conflicts, things could spiral out of control fast.
Ingram’s chilling scenario for 2029 sees a string of political fights and power competitions setting off a domino effect of wars across Europe and Asia. He warned that “the weakening of Western alliances, coupled with economic instability and energy shocks, could erode deterrence and trigger a global confrontation reminiscent of the early twentieth century’s great wars.”
He’s not the only one raising the alarm. Defence experts across Europe and America are reportedly drawing worrying comparisons to the tense years before previous world wars.
Ukraine, the Taiwan Strait, the Korean Peninsula, and the Middle East are all being flagged as potential areas of concerns. The Atlantic Council has also warned that “shifts in military balance and weakening international institutions increase the likelihood of miscalculation”.
Military experts shared: “This combination of digital disruption, nationalist politics, and fragmented diplomacy has created what Ingram described as the most precarious security environment since the Cold War.”
Nevertheless, Ingram reportedly insisted his grim vision is “not a prophecy but a cautionary exercise”.
