The Daily Star Chief Tipster believes a rising star could grab the limelight at Sandown on Friday, while he fancies a 7-1 shot to strike at a course he likes
LAURENS BAY (2..20, nap) can cement his position as a fine novice chase prospect at Sandown on Friday.
Jamie Snowden’s exciting six-year-old cruised home on his fencing bow at Uttoxeter in October.
He tackles sterner opposition in the Grade Two Betfair Esher Novices’ Chase and his three rivals all have claims of their own.
Laurens Bay loves soft ground and hopefully there will have been enough of the wet stuff for him to use his stamina.
He displayed that staying prowess when coming from another parish to win the EBF Final in March at today’s track.
The other Grade Two race on the card is the Betfair Winter Novices’ Hurdle and it will be a surprise if NO DRAMA THIS END (1.45) does not land the spoils.
He was super impressive when scoring at Cheltenham in what was arguably a better race last month and he can continue his journey to the top of the novice hurdling tree.
KING AL (12.35) was progressive on the Flat and is an each-way play in the juvenile hurdle that opens the card while NEW ORDER (2.55, nb) was a decisive course winner in the spring and looks a bit overpriced at 7-1 in the three-mile handicap chase.
At Exeter CHEDINGTON’S GUEST (2.33) is a strong fancy while SAINT ANAPOLINO (1.58) looks nicely weighted to make a winning chasing debut.
Gentleman Taboot is a fine prospect but may struggle to give weight to KLUB DE REVE (12.48).
TANKING ALONG (1.33) and BO CRUZ (2.08) are standouts at Sedgefield.
The former was a tenacious course winner last month and should follow up under Brian Hughes, while Bo Cruz had form in point to points and will be fitter after a spin over hurdles.
At Newcastle tonight TEARDROPS (5.45, trb) could have the bookies crying into their satchels.
He bolted up over the course and distance nine days ago and should defy a penalty.
LAKE COMO (3.45) went into the notebook after an unlucky run at Lingfield 15 days ago and is interesting while AISLING OSCAR (7.15) can land a quickfire treble.
MR MISTOFFELEES (4.45) is in very good form and will take some stopping in the one mile handicap.
