(Contains affiliate links): Your Daily Star has tested out some of the most unusual, interesting and enticing alcoholic products on the market for Christmas 2025
We’re only a couple of weeks out from Christmas and, naturally, thoughts turn to maybe the most important aspect of the big day – food and drink.
What extortionate cheeses are you going to buy? How many dessert options is too many? And how many alcoholic gifts can I look forward to giving and receiving?
Gifting booze at Christmas can be a risky move unless you know the person well and know exactly what they like. But, there’s always something to be said for trying new things and pushing the boat out.
So, here at the Daily Star, we’ve taken a look at some unusual, interesting and enticing alcoholic gifts which could be perfect for the connoisseur in your life.
There’s everything from limited editions to edgy new trends, so no matter the person, there should be something.
Green Spot 100 Year Anniversary Limited Edition Whiskey
We’re kicking things off with a bang, in the form of a limited-edition bottle of Irish whiskey that combines taste and aesthetics.
The 100-year anniversary bottle of Green Spot is a revival of the brand’s traditional drop, first launched in 1925 by Mitchell & Son.
I’ve always preferred the lighter, smoother Irish whiskey to Scotch and this bottle of Green Spot sums up exactly why. Bumping the ABV up from 40% for your standard bottle of Green Spot, all the way up to 46% guarantees the limited edition bottle packs a punch but without losing the fruity notes you’d expect.
The burst of green apple and vanilla flavours on the palate give a real freshness, without ever losing a rich depth of flavour.
And just look at the bottle…for this limited-edition, Green Spot has partnered up with paint brand YesColours to create a new shade which adorns the front of the bottle.
Absolutely perfect for the whiskey lover in your life, this is a step beyond the norm.
It’s available from Master of Malt, priced at £73.95.
Drinks By The Dram Christmas Whisky Discovery Set
This one’s more for the whisky explorer, who maybe isn’t exactly certain what their favourite is yet, but wants to go on an odyssey.
Inside are five different 30ml wax-sealed samples, from some of the world’s best whisky producers.
The main thing that brings the five tasters together is a festive flavour profile, but aside from that, it’s a journey into the unknown.
And as a gift, it couldn’t be simpler. You can send it in the post as a complete, self-contained gift or hand it over in person.
If you want to maintain the surprise, then skip the next section, but for those that don’t mind spoilers, here are the five drams you’ll find inside:
And best of all is the price point. Costing just £29.95 for the five samples, it’s a bit more than a stocking filler but still an absolute bargain.
You can get hold of it from Master of Malt
Project #173 Dubai Chocolate Rum
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know about Dubai chocolate. The viral treat was first posted on TikTok in late 2023, but has since gone on to capture the hearts and minds of foodies across the globe.
It combines milk chocolate, shredded pastry called kataifi, and a pistachio cream only sold in the UAE. And now, it’s even spawned its own flavour of rum!
Project #173 has become well known for its more unusual rum flavours, from Earl Grey to smoked chilli and even ‘hot buttered popcorn’. And now they’re taking on Dubai chocolate just in time for Christmas.
Combining the now-iconic flavours with rum from the Dominican Republic, it comes in at 42%, avoiding the ABV drop-off that many flavoured spirits often face.
It’s seriously sweet, pretty unusual and works both neat or in cocktails. Try it in an espresso martini for an incredibly indulgent Christmas drink.
It’s available from Master of Malt, priced at a very reasonable £20.95 for a 50cl bottle.
Fever Tree Classic Margarita Kit
If you have a tequila lover in your life, then look no further! This beautifully-designed gift set contains everything you’ll need to make the perfect marg…including the glasses.
Fever Tree has become famous for its premium tonics and mixers and its ‘Classic Margarita Mixer’ is the star of the show here, combining Mexican limes, Italian blood orange and Scottish sea salt.
You’re also treated to two 5cl miniature bottles of Vivir Tequila Blanco, as well as two ribbed margarita glasses, making it an ideal gift for a couple.
It’s in many ways a classic Christmas present – all the joy of a great cocktail, but stripping away any effort and offering that little something extra with the glassware.
You can buy the Fever Tree Classic Margarita Kit from Tesco for £35.
Fever Tree Christmas Crackers
Nothing says Christmas like a cracker, but these, again from Fever Tree, offer something very different from a bottle opener or some dominoes.
The company has crafted a range of different cocktail crackers, ranging from a raspberry mojito to a blood orange gin spritz.
I’ve tasted two of their range. Firstly, the Ultimate Paloma cracker, which combines tequila with a zingy grapefruit mixer. Inside you’ll find a 150ml can of Pink Grapefruit Soda, a 50ml miniature of Virir Tequila Blanco and, in case you were in any doubt about them being crackers, a joke and hat…
My second taste test was the Ultimate Classic Mojito, pretty much what it says on the tin; a 150ml can of Fever Tree’s Classic Mojito Mixer, a 50ml bottle Duppy Share Spiced rum, and again the joke and hat combo.
They’re one of the easiest and simplest gifts you’ll find for the cocktail fan in your life, but they remain endlessly enjoyable, beautifully packaged and with enough variety to keep you coming back for more.
You can buy the range from John Lewis, priced at either £9 or £10 each.
Caorunn Gin
Now for one that offers both a lovely bottle of gin and some personalisation that really turns it into a special and meaningful gift.
Caorunn gin (pronounced ka-roon if anyone asks) is from Speyside in Scotland, an area iconic for its whisky, but has won plenty of awards since its launch back in 2009.
And thanks to a new initiative, it’s a better present than ever before. If you buy a bottle of their classic small-batch gin from Caorunn’s online shop, priced at £30, you can get a name added to the bottle free of charge.
But not only that, you can thank us for a little hack that could save you a few extra quid. You can get a 70cl bottle of Caorunn on Amazon for £23.50, a saving of almost £7 on the official shop. And if you’re worried about missing out on the personalised label, don’t be.
The bottle contains a QR code, which you can scan to fill in a form and have your personalised label posted out to you at home. Be sure to act quickly though if you want it in time for Christmas.
Caorunn is available at Amazon for £23.50
Old Pulteney Harbour Whisky
Taking its name from the point which joins Old Pulteney’s hometown of Wick to the North Sea, Old Pulteney Harbour celebrates the brand’s maritime roots.
Offering the classic slight saltiness of Old Pulteney alongside warming flavours of coconut and caramel, it’s an easy-to-drink option at a very reasonable price point.
For beginners, it’s a brilliant introduction to single malts, and while it may not have the complexity of a more expensive tipple, you can’t really go far wrong for just a shade over £30.
Old Pulteney Harbour is available at Master of Malt for £32.49
Plumpton Estate Brut Rose NV
The reputation of English sparkling wine continues to soar and this one from Plumpton Estate is pretty unique. It’s made in partnership with winemaking students at nearby Plumpton College in East Sussex.
The flavour profile is more that of a summery wine, with fresh red berry sweetness, but don’t let that put you off using it as a Christmas Day tipple.
Coming in at 12%, it’s a crisp, dry rose and the minds behind it reckon you should pair it with chocolate desserts and forest fruits. That sounds like the ultimate festive bliss.
