Luke Littler will open his World Darts Championship defence on Thursday – and he’s received the blessing of a psychic pig during the build-up
Luke Littler has been picked for back-to-back glory at the World Darts Championship by a psychic pig.
Truffle, who correctly picked Littler to win his maiden Sid Waddell trophy last year, has again sniffed out the Nuke for glory at the Alexandra Palace. However, Littler will have to overcome a bumper field to prove the porky prophet correct.
It’s the second time Truffle has picked Littler to go the distance – and she looks like she could be giving Paul the Octopus (who became the surprise star of the 2010 World Cup) a run for his money with Littler in a golden vein form heading into the showpiece.
During a visit organised by Darts Corner, at her home at Ouseburn Farm, Truffles was presented with four buckets of feed labelled with the names of the tournament favourites – Luke Humphries, Luke Littler, Ross Smith and Michael van Gerwen.
And Truffle knocked over three of the buckets as she opted to take a snack out of the one with Littler’s face.
Truffle also pickled Dutchman Michale van Gerwen as the runner-up for the 2026 event – marking a rematch of last year’s final that saw Littler come out on top.
The World Darts Championship swings into action on Thursday evening, with defending champion Littler the headliner in action as he squares off with Darius Labanauskas.
Littler said of the draw: “Yeah, I mean, obviously it could have been a lot worse with the players in the field, but I’m very happy with it – very happy.
“It could have been, like I said, a lot tougher, but yeah, I’ll take Darius in the first round.
“No matter what I average, no matter how I win, I just want to get that first win under my belt, and then I can hopefully come back and win again.
“But yeah, it’s just all eyes, laser-focused, on that first game.”
