  • Magpies accepted resignation of long-term staff member

Collingwood’s rehabilitation manager Dean Filopoulos has quit the footy club in disgrace after performing an unwanted lap dance on a Magpies player.

The shocking incident unfolded on the final night of the club’s recent community camp in the Northern Territory.

Filopoulos was among a group who had been drinking at an Alice Springs bar on the last night of the camp, when he performed the lap dance on the mortified AFLW star.

News Corp has reported the dance happened ‘in front of everyone’.

Filopoulos is said to be ‘incredibly devastated and remorseful over his actions’.

The incident occurred during the club’s recent cultural immersion program, which started in Tennant Creek.

Pictures from the camp were posted by the Magpies on social media.

Filopoulos arrived at Collingwood in 2012 as VFL high performance manager, and was eventually promoted to be the club’s rehabilitation manager.

In a statement, the Magpies confirmed Filopoulos has been moved on.

‘Collingwood can confirm that an incident occurred during recent interstate travel that required investigation by the club,’ it read.

‘As soon as the club became aware of the incident, it moved quickly to address the matter.

‘During this process, the employee involved tendered their resignation, which the club accepted.

‘Our focus remains on supporting all team members and ensuring our environments remain professional and consistent with the values we stand for.’

The club promotes the program as ‘fostering meaningful connections with the local community’, before adding it is ‘part of the club’s ongoing commitment to cultural learning and community engagement’.
