A shopper in North Wales has bagged a whopping £2m on a scratchcard. The fortunate customer purchased the card from The Paper Shop located on High Street, Prestatyn, North Wales.

The Black Pearl Deluxe Scratchcard, which cost £5, yielded the game’s grand prize of £2m. While the winner’s identity remains undisclosed, the windfall has also enriched the shop owner.

John Evans, the proprietor, has received a £10,000 reward from Allwyn, the operator of The National Lottery. This reward is part of Allwyn’s ‘Share the Win’ scheme, aimed at amplifying the joy of winning by acknowledging National Lottery retailers.

Under this initiative, retailers are rewarded when they sell a high-tier winning ticket or Scratchcard (valued at £50,000+).

John Evans expressed his delight: “I’m absolutely delighted with my win. We’re a seasonal business, so it’s more than welcome and will really help us out.”, reports North Wales Live.

Alison Acquaye-Acford, Allwyn’s Director of Commercial Partnerships and Retail Sales, congratulated John: “Congratulations to John and his store for winning big in Share the Win and landing an early Christmas present from Allwyn!”.

She further explained the purpose of the initiative: “This initiative is all about recognising the vital role retailers play in creating life-changing moments for players, multiplying that winning feeling and helping spread positivity in communities across the UK. This is all while continuing to help raise around £32 million every week for Good Causes.”
