Mad Vlad Putin has branded Volodymyr Zelenskyy as a talented performer, when speaking about the Ukrainian leader’s video taken near a town “occupied” by Russian troops
Vladimir Putin has branded Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a “talented performer” – and issued a chilling threat to him to enter a town “occupied” by Russian troops.
Mad Vlad made reference to a video released by Zelenskyy last week in which he sent a dispatch from Kupyansk, which Russia claimed it had occupied. Zelesnkyy posed with the sign welcoming visitors to the town.
But Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the selfie was “another staged action intended to impress Kiev’s foreign sponsors“.
And in his end-of-year press conference, Russian despot Putin mocked: “He is a performer, and a talented one. I say this without any irony – we know this from his films in earlier years.
“It is located about a kilometre away from the city itself. Why stand on the doorstep? Come into the house. The sky there is literally full of drones, from both our side and the Ukrainian side, so it’s impossible to get close.”
He then chillingly warned: “The time will come when our servicemen finish combat operations to destroy the encircled group on the eastern bank of the river, turn around and move westward.
“That will happen fairly soon. It’s only a matter of time, there are no problems here.”
Zelenskyy posted a video last Friday as he visited Ukrainian troops stationed two miles from their Russian counterparts, well within the range of Moscow’s drones and artillery.
During the visit, he is seen standing in front of a bullet-riddled sign bearing the town’s name at the entrance to Kupyansk.
Russia’s Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov last month said Mad Vlad’s invading troops had captured the northeastern Ukrainian town, which had a pre-war population of 26,600.
Zelenskyy said in his post: “Today, I am in the Kupyansk sector, with our warriors who are getting the job done for Ukraine here. The Russians kept going on about Kupyansk – the reality speaks for itself.”
Elsewhere during his address, Putin said Russia has “practically agreed” to proposals put forward by US President Donald Trump during peace talks in Anchorage.
And he stressed that Moscow does not consider itself responsible for civilian deaths as “Russia did not start this war”, adding it must “eliminate the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine to ensure that nothing like this happens again”.
