The Federation Of Master Builders asked 2,000 UK adults if they make builders and other tradesmen a cup of tea while they are working on their homes to come up with the findings.

Chief executive Brian Berry said: ‘Small acts of kindness really do matter.

‘Offering a drink, taking a moment to chat, or simply treating builders with warmth can make a genuine difference to someone who may be feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

‘Most builders take real pride in their work, and creating a bit more understanding between homeowners and tradespeople can help ease the pressure during what is an incredibly demanding time.’
