- Bryce Alexander Black, 33, killed in Bali crash
- Samantha Baillie, 33, suffered critical injuries
- Family faces $50,000-plus medical bill
An Australian mum who suffered life-changing injuries in a horror scooter crash in Bali that claimed the life of her boyfriend is preparing to be airlifted home, a friend has revealed.
Samantha Baillie and Bryce Alexander Black, both 33, from the NSW Central Coast, were riding a scooter along Petitenget street in North Kuta when they crashed head-on with a car at about 4.30am on Sunday, December 28.
Mr Black died at the scene while Ms Baillie, his passenger, was rushed to hospital.
Best friend Savannah-Leigh Homer set up a GoFundMe to help the mother-of-two cover a bill of more than $50,000 as she did not have travel insurance and was reportedly in a critical condition.
‘She has suffered significant injuries throughout her body, including a fractured skull with bleeding on the brain, multiple broken fingers with severe hand injuries, injuries to her pelvis, and extensive injuries to her feet,’ Ms Homer posted.
‘She is badly injured and facing a long and uncertain recovery.’
In an update shared online, Ms Homer has revealed Ms Baillie is now on the mend with loved ones hoping to bring her back home very soon.
‘The brain bleed is going down. Hopefully we will be able to do surgery for her hands,’ Ms Homer said.

The accident claimed the life of her boyfriend Bryce Alexander Black, 33 (pictured)
‘We just need to wait for the brain bleed to be able to get her home safely on a flight and back to Australia and get her home to her kids and into an Australian hospital where she will be cared for properly.’
Ms Homer also lashed out at Bali Police’s official report of Ms Baillie’s injuries.
The Bali Police report of the accident, obtained by the Daily Mail, said Ms Baillie suffered ‘facial abrasions and bleeding from the ear’, with her injuries characterised as minor, rather than serious.
But Ms Homer said the official description of her injuries was incorrect and downplayed their severity.
‘Sam was in a critical condition,’ Ms Homer said.
‘She did not have bleeding from her ears or eyes.’
The police report stated Mr Black died after suffering a severe head injury, bleeding from the ears, fracture to his left arm, and a laceration on his right leg.
Bali Police said the scooter had veered onto the opposite side of the road and was hit by a Honda Mobilio being driven by two Indonesian students.
The couple were travelling along Petitenget street (pictured), Kerobokan Village, North Kuta, Badung Regency, during the early hours of December 28 when their scooter struck a car
The mother-of-two frequently shared doting posts online about her relationship with Mr Black
‘The Yamaha NMAX motorcycle attempted to overtake a vehicle in front of it by moving to the right and crossing the centre line without paying attention to the Honda Mobilio coming from the opposite direction in its proper lane, resulting in a collision,’ the report stated.
The 27-year-old Indonesian driver in the Honda Mobilio was not injured, while his 25-year-old passenger was treated for minor body pain.
Following the accident, Ms Homer said she and Ms Baillie’s mother flew to Bali to be by her side.
At the time of setting up the fundraiser, Ms Homer said the family faced mounting costs, including transferring the young mum back to Australia and assisting with rehabilitation and daily expenses.
Ms Homer said Ms Baillie, who works as a hairdresser, may not be able to work for a long time due to the severity of her injuries.
‘We have already paid $6,000 toward her initial hospital care, and we have now been issued a further medical bill of $52,000, with more costs expected,’ Ms Homer said.
Ms Homer said it was Ms Baillie’s first time overseas and the couple had only arrived in Indonesia the day before the accident.
She said the holiday ‘was meant to be a happy milestone’ as the young mum was ‘recently starting a new chapter of her life’.
Ms Baillie was reportedly on her first ever trip overseas when the tragedy unfolded
In the lead-up to the tragedy, Ms Baillie frequently shared gushing posts online about her loving relationship with Mr Black.
Over the past month, the couple had celebrated the festive season with their three children, who are from previous relationships, as they posed for family Santa photos.
On Christmas Eve, she shared a reel of photos on TikTok showing the couple kissing and spending time together.
‘Love isn’t perfect, it’s practised,’ Ms Baillie wrote.
Other photos show the pair taking their children on jet-ski rides, going to waterparks and hanging out with their dog.
In August, Ms Baillie said she had Mr Black ‘locked in’ after he had a picture of her face tattooed onto him.
‘Healed a heart that he didn’t break,’ she wrote in September.
‘It’s amazing what someone good can do to your soul.’
The fundraiser, which was launched last week, has been paused after raising more than $51,000 within 48 hours.
