Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly engaging in ‘persistent sexual conduct’ with a teenage boy in Mandurah, Western Australia, between 2024 and 2025
A pregnant and married music teacher, currently on maternity leave, faces accusations of “penetrating” a teenage schoolboy during alleged “persistent” sexual abuse.
Naomi Tekea Craig, 33, was arrested on Tuesday following accusations of engaging in “persistent sexual conduct” with a teenaged boy in Mandurah, Australia – a coastal city 70km south of Perth – between 2024 and 2025.
The teacher faces two charges of sexual penetration of a child over 13 and under 16, possession of child exploitation material, and persistent sexual conduct with a child under 16. At the time of the alleged incidents, Ms Craig was employed at Frederick Irwin Anglican School, a private co-educational Anglican institution in Meadow Springs, Mandurah, with students from kindergarten to Year 12.
Principal Tracey Gray sent out a letter to parents and carers on Tuesday, confirming the alleged victim is not a student at the school.
The statement from Gray read: “I regret to inform you that a teacher from our school has been arrested by police and charged with child-related offences.”
“The teacher has been instructed not to attend the school. The information available to the school suggests that there is no need for any concern for any children at the school.”
The Daily Mail reports Ms Craig is a married mother who also uses the surname Woods, her marital name. It is also understood she had recently started her maternity leave as she is expecting her second child due later this month, the Mail reports.
Ms Craig, a native of Mandurah, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Western Australia and a Diploma of Education from Edith Cowan University. She later moved to Melbourne, where she tied the knot with her long-term partner in an extravagant ceremony at Stones of the Yarra Valley on 8 October 2019.
A video shared online captures Ms Craig being escorted down the aisle to meet her husband-to-be, before the newlyweds spent the evening revelling with loved ones. Fast forward three years, still residing in Victoria, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy.
Pictures from a maternity shoot depict Ms Craig cradling her baby bump in March 2022, standing on a Mornington Peninsula beach clad in white lingerie, a brown wide-brimmed hat, and a lace gown. The expectant mum can be seen closing her eyes as she tenderly cups her belly and chest before submerging herself in the water.
Ms Craig is due to appear in Mandurah Magistrates Court on January 27.
