Police have closed off a car park of a retail complex close in Newcastle to an Asda and Iceland stores over a reported stand-off with a man.
The major police presence is at the Adelaide Centre in Benwell with videos on social media appearing to show a person on the roof of a building in the complex. Although police are yet to confirmed details.
ChronicleLive, who are on the scene, have confirmed to seeing a man on the roof of the Adelaide Centre today (January 17).
Police descended on the scene at around 12:30pm and a significant police presence continues as the car park remains cordoned off.

Officers can bee seen across the complex with presence outside Asda, Iceland and Greggs as customers are being kept away from the area.
It is currently unknown if all shops on the complex have closed due to the large cordon.
