Fans of The Traitors were left speculating earlier this week when they spotted a second unopened envelope sat beside Uncloaked host Ed Gamble as he joined the banished stars for a series of tell-all chats.
Now, the secret behind the mystery envelopes have been revealed, and it’s not the ‘twist’ that viewers of the hit BBC series were expecting.
Its contents were finally revealed on Thursday night after eagle-eyed viewers took to social media to suggest what could be hidden inside – including another secret Traitor, or a twist to the final.
Instead, during a montage of the banished contestants so far, the second letter was confirmed to reveal all the secret relationships inside the castle to its stars.
The scroll, titled ‘Secret Relationships’, revealed to the players the shock revelations discovered earlier in the series, that not only were Roxy and Judy mother and daughter, but that Ross and Ellie were a secret couple.
The segment showcased the stars unravelling the letters – leaving many of them open-mouthed in shock as they admitted they would ‘never have put two and two together’ about Ross and Ellie.

Fans spotted how the contestants were given two envelopes after they were banished or murdered on the BBC One series
Sat opposite Ellie, Jessie was seen collapsing to the floor as she reacted open-mouthed to her co-star: ‘You and Ross were in a couple?!’
‘I would never have put them two together’, Reece reacted, as Fiona added: ‘I would have never had that at all.’
As it was revealed that Judy and Roxy were mother and daughter, Ben was seen slowly removing his glasses and saying: ‘You’re never going to guess this one’.
‘You’re never going to guess this one,’ Jessie then said to Ellie, before Adam reacted: ‘How did we miss this? You know Judy, she’s Roxy’s mum!’
Traitor Hugo then recalled: ‘And that’s why Roxy didn’t vote for her, that’s why Roxy voted for James, she couldn’t vote for her mother!’
‘This has shocked me!’ Ross concluded.
Fans were certain that the envelopes spotted another show twist when they first spotted each contestant had two on the table after being banished or murdered.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one fan penned: ‘What is this second envelope which keeps appearing on #TheTraitors Uncloaked?! Is there ANOTHER secret or twist in the series…?’ – prompting thousands of replies.
Viewers speculated that the two envelopes could be hiding a ‘twist’
The envelopes contained details about the relationships between show stars
The comment, which was seen by over 300,000 social media users, saw them speculating over ‘what hadn’t been revealed yet’.
It comes after show fans have been left convinced they have ‘worked out’ how Rachel will win the series with a ‘secret’ tactic – if she remains in the game tonight.
The BBC show, which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman, will draw to a close on its fourth series with the final episode airing tonight (January 23).
In the penultimate instalment, viewers were left on a cliffhanger with Rachel Duffy, a Traitor, and James Baker, a Faithful, both at risk of banishment.
They each received three votes from their fellow players – leaving them tied and having to play a game of chance in order to survive.
Their fate will come down to the rare Chests of Chance, with one box containing a shield inside that would save either Traitor Rachel or Faithful James.
While the result wasn’t revealed on the show, which ended on a tense cliffhanger, viewers of the show are certain they’ve worked out how Rachel could make her comeback, if she survives the game of chance, and WIN.
Taking to Reddit, devoted fans discussed how Rachel might navigate having the fingers of her fellow players pointed towards her to get back in the running, and take home the £120,000 jackpot.

Fans took to X to point out there were multiple envelopes on the table
According to Daily Star, they penned: ‘Jack has already changed his vote from Rachel to James, showing she has somewhat convinced him.
‘Granted, he may still have doubt, but as we’ve seen all season, he is the kind of faithful who can be swayed, especially by someone like Stephen.
‘Let’s say James goes after the chest of chance… five left. Next, Stephen and Rachel convince Jack to vote out Jade. There are so few of them left this is a very likely possibility, and Rachel survives one more round.
‘She has tons of suspicion on her for sure and logic says she goes after James BUT we have seen it before where things can change at the drop of a hat especially when numbers and trust is so low.’
The fan went on to theorise that with four contestants remaining, if James was out the picture, that Stephen and Rachel would likely persuade Jack that Jade was a Traitor.
The ‘secret’ tactic would come into play by using Jack’s ‘total belief in Stephen’, with the viewer musing Rachel could use that to convince Jack to vote against Faraaz.
It would then leave the Traitors victorious, and walking away with the money.
The Traitors finale airs at 8:30pm tonight on BBC One and iPlayer
