Coby Keogh, 13, has died in hospital after suffering serious injuries in a house fire in Blackpool, Lancashire, on Tuesday morning. Joey Gregory, 19, remains in a serious condition in hospital after the blaze, which police believe was started by an e-bike.
A 13 year old boy has tragically lost his life following a house fire in Blackpool, police confirmed as another victim is currently fighting for his life.
Emergency services rushed to Redcar Road at 9.37am on Tuesday, June 30, after receiving reports of a property ablaze.
Two individuals – a 19-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy – were rushed to hospital with serious injuries sustained from the inferno.
In an update shared this afternoon (July 6), Lancashire Police revealed that the young boy had traiclly passed away due to his injuries on Sunday (July 5) and has been identified as Coby Keogh.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Our thoughts are with Coby’s loved ones at this time, and they are being supported by specially trained officers. A file will be prepared for HM Coroner.”
Joey Gregory, 19, remains in a critical condition in hospital. In a heartfelt update posted on Facebook on Saturday (July 4), Joey’s mum disclosed that he is still battling for his life, reports Lancs Live.
She wrote: “We were told on Tuesday that the first 24-48 hours were critical. Then they said 72….. We are on day 5 and my boy is still here.
“Keep fighting sunshine, we ain’t going nowhere. We are so lucky to have such amazing family and friends. My boy is so loved. I don’t know where we are finding the strength from. Please keep praying.”
Three other individuals inside the property suffered minor injuries.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway between the police and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, with officers confirming there is no evidence of third-party involvement at this stage.
