Mackenzie McLean let the teen move into her Florida home – after he viewed her as a mother figure – and allegedly cut herself with a knife in a rage when he eventually moved out
A sicko teacher is accused of plying a homeless student with booze and sexually abusing him multiple times.
Mackenzie McLean, 49, allegedly carried out the offences after she allowed the 18-year-old to move into her Florida home in March 2024. According to the youngster, he was molested around “five to ten times” – including on one occasion while her her daughter was present – during a two-month period while she was his educator.
The teacher at Crooms Academy in Sanford, Florida, USA is thought to have given the teen “approximately 12 shots of gin,” which caused him to “become severely intoxicated,” according to an affidavit. He was reportedly first abused when playing computer games along with McClean and her teen daughter.
However, the girl grew suspicious and “pulled down the covers to expose Mackenzie McLean’s head,” according to the court papers obtained by People. The student began living with his teacher after being kicked out of his home and alleged that she soon “began making sexual advances toward him”.
He estimated living with McClean for roughly nine months and, two months before he graduated, they were sleeping in the same bed and travelling to school together. Detectives said the teen broke down in tears as he recounted the alleged ordeal and became “quite emotional while talking about what happened”.
The boy, who once saw McLean as a trusted mother figure, told cops that he “felt compelled” to go along with the alleged abuse, terrified that if he resisted, he’d be tossed out with nowhere to go and nothing to eat.
McLean was charged with two counts of sexual offence by an authority figure and one count of distribution of a controlled substance. She is being held on a $35,000 (£26,000) bond and due to appear back in court on March 31.
A female student, 16, also accused the woman of giving her and other students illegal substances, including booze, marijuana gummies and Adderall (used to treat ADHD). The teen also alleges that McLean became aggressive when her accuser moved out in in December 2024, screaming and cutting herself with a knife.
A spokesperson for Seminole County Public Schools said McLean, who taught history, government and economics, was placed on administrative leave. They added: “Any allegations of misconduct by our staff will be taken seriously and handled quickly.
“The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and any type of behavior that jeopardizes that safety will not be tolerated in Seminole County Public Schools.”
