Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited Jordan for a two-day humanitarian trip but did not meet with King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, despite the Jordanian royals’ close ties to King Charles and the British Royal Family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, seemingly received a ‘snub’ from Jordan’s royals during their Middle East tour. The couple touched down in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Tuesday night, having been invited to the country by the World Health Organization’s (WHO) director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Within hours of their arrival, the pair embarked on several royal-style visits to charities and organisations. The purpose of Harry and Meghan’s two-day trip was to gain insight into the humanitarian efforts supporting the wellbeing of displaced Syrians and Palestinians who have sought refuge in Jordan.
However, despite their lengthy 7,500-mile journey from California to the Middle East, it appears they did not meet with the King and Queen of Jordan.

Jordan’s King Abdullah II has a close relationship with the British Royal Family, particularly with King Charles. King Abdullah II was photographed meeting Charles during an official visit to London in 2025.
King Abdullah II and his wife, Queen Rania, were special guests at King Charles’ coronation in May 2026. Queen Rania and Queen Camilla have also met on several occasions to discuss women’s issues.
A source revealed the King and Queen of Jordan did not encounter Harry and Meghan during their visit to the Middle Eastern kingdom, according to the Daily Mail.
The source allegedly stated: “There is no meeting scheduled between the Duke and Duchess [of Sussex] and the Jordanian Royal Family.”
The sole member of the Jordanian monarchy who came across the Duke and Duchess was Princess Basma Bint Talal, an aunt of King Abdullah II, and her daughter Farah Daghistani. They had a brief encounter on Thursday at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development – a charity established to assist impoverished Jordanians.
King Abdullah II was instead occupied this week hosting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Amman on Wednesday. Among the locations Harry and Meghan visited was the National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts, where the pair spoke with patients.
Prince Harry encouraged a group of recovering addicts to return to their communities and support others, declaring: “There’s no shame in having an addiction.”
The California-based couple were observed listening to a group of men who shared the emotional impact of substance abuse and the assistance they have received from the facility.
They described it as “incredible” after learning about its comprehensive approach to treating patients, offering activities such as a gym and yoga classes. The son of King Charles stated: “I want you guys to know there’s no shame in having an addiction, it stems from something else which is an emotional pain – you’re very, very brave to come here into hospital.
“Now what you need to do is use this experience and go back into your communities and help other people who are in a similar situation.”
The couple also paid a visit to the headquarters of the World Central Kitchen – which organises and delivers a million hot meals across Gaza every day.
