Destiny Boateng had pleaded for years to have her boobs reduced in size on the NHS

A woman has claimed that she cannot have breast reduction surgery on the NHS, and was denied to have the surgery four times. She eventually able to get the procedure done, in what she says was a “life-changing” operation.

Destiny Boateng’s boobs grew to be incredibly big, clocking in at a whopping 40L. Whilst for many women, this might be their dream size in order to feel confident, for Destiny it was anything but.

She admitted she was subjected to swathes of unwanted attention from men because of the size of her boobs, which left her feeling scared for her life. It also affected her health, as she was left with searing back pain and even made sleeping uncomfortable due to the size.

Eventually, Destiny had enough of putting up with the physical and mental pain of having such big boobs and went to her GP a total of four times between 2019 and 2025 to ask for breast reduction surgery. But instead of being accepted, she had been rejected due to her BMI.

During one visit, Destiny, who weighed 17st at the time, was offered anti-depressants by her doctor, but refused to take them. She eventually had to drop three stone in order to finally get the go-ahead for the surgery, which was carried out last month.

Speaking about the incident, Destiny said: “I always had bigger breasts and they just kept growing. I was struggling to find bras especially when I started secondary school.

“When I got to 18-19 I wasn’t feeling confident in myself,” the London-based girl said. “I felt disproportionate and it started to cause me pain.”

Destiny explained that the sheer weight of her boobs was so heavy that it caused her to develop a slanted posture. The back pain she endured would sometimes last the entire day, with her having to take paracetamol in order to bring down the pain.

After being first rejected for being too overweight in 2019, Destiny, who is 5ft 3in, started her fitness journey. She started going to the gym, to help slim down the size, but when she went back to the GP, she was still rejected.

“I didn’t want to be a 40L, it’s not cute,” she insisted. “I was being stared at by men, being sexualised, but sometimes you just want to wear cute tops.”

Eventually, after another two rejections as a result of her weight, she was able to slim down to 93kg (14st 6lbs). After she had her reduction surgery, 4kg (9lbs) was taken off her chest, giving her a new sense of life.

She explained that she has never felt happier as she is able to go about her daily life without having to struggle with major back pain anymore. “I’m so much more confident in myself and so much happier,” Destiny beamed.

“I used to wear XL, but now I can wear medium, it’s crazy. I feel like my life has changed, I feel so much happier.”

Though she still remains in recovery, Destiny isn’t looking back, and she is sharing her story to make sure other large-breasted women know there are options to reduce their suffering. She is now looking forward to doing things like a normal person, including things like driving.
