Andrew is under investigation after being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and has not been seen publicly since he was pictured leaving a police station last month
Shamed Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is said to have entered therapy over fears he’s going “stir crazy” after being placed under “house arrest” by King Charles. Andrew, 66, has been holed up at the heavily secured Marsh Farm on Sandringham since his arrest.
He was photographed being driven away from a police station in Norfolk after 12 hours in custody and has not been since. Now, a Royal source claims the situation has taken a “huge” psychological toll on the disgraced ex-prince.
They said Andrew has been assigned a specialist counsellor, adding: “Andrew has begun therapy because there are genuine fears he was going stir crazy while living under what people inside the palace describe as King Charles-imposed house arrest.”
The insider told Radar: “He is in the early stages of therapy after being assigned a counsellor who specializes in celebrities and members of royal families who struggle with intense public scrutiny.”
Renovations and security upgrades continue at the property, which Royal aides say is part of a broader strategy to remove Andrew from public view while investigators examine his connections to Epstein, with whom he is accused of sharing confidential material.
Insiders reportedly said the move effectively confines Andrew to a tightly controlled environment funded by his older brother.
The source added: “From the palace perspective, the objective is to reduce exposure at every level, limiting lines of sight, restricting access, and ensuring the residence cannot easily become a gathering point for photographers.
“Effectively, Andrew Windsor is living under a kind of house arrest. It is not a legal order, but the understanding is very clear, if he wishes to continue living comfortably under the King’s financial support, he must remain out of the public eye.”
Andrew was arrested on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Six unmarked police cars arrived at Andrew’s new Wood Farm home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk at around 8am.
Officers were also seen at Royal Lodge, his former home in Windsor. The ex-Duke of York is the first “Royal” arrested in more than 350 years. Nine forces are looking into claims involving Andrew and/or Epstein. Andrew denies any wrongdoing.
