Any person who pulls out the green and yellow striped silks of I Am Maximum will fancy their chances with the JP McManus-owned horse dominating the markets.
The 10-year-old is set to be ridden by Paul Townend, with a repeat of two years ago the aim, having finished second to Nick Rockett last year.
The defending champion has declared for the race, with legendary trainer Willie Mullins also having Grangeclare West, Spanish Harlem, Lecky Watson, Champ Kiely, High Class Hero, Captain Cody and Quai De Bourbon.
There are many other big-name horses set to run, including the Gavin Cromwell-trained Perceval Legallois and Final Orders, while Monty’s Star and Gorgeous Tom for Henry de Bromhead are also among those confirmed.
One big story heading into the weekend concerns Dan Skelton, who has Panic Attack in the field, and his hopes of claiming the UK trainers’ championship title.
The Nigel and Beauport, Top of the Bill, Iroko, Banbridge, Haiti Couleurs and Firefox are just a few other horses set to run with Spillane’s Tower, who was scheduled to run in Thursday’s Racing Welfare Bowl, declared for the national.
