Need to know: King Charles’ Royal U-Turn – Beatrice and Eugenie Back in the Fold

  • King Charles has performed a dramatic royal U-turn by welcoming Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie back into high-profile events after initially banning them.
  • The monarch reversed his decision to exclude the York sisters from Royal Ascot following rumours they’d been snubbed from the guest list. Reports suggested Prince William had refused to attend royal engagements alongside his cousins.
  • The princesses were noticeably absent from Easter celebrations, fuelling speculation of a deepening rift within the House of Windsor. Palace sources confirmed the King and Queen personally invited the pair to Ascot.
  • The royal sisters will now arrive in traditional carriages and watch races from the exclusive Royal Box. They’ll also join the inner circle in the Royal Enclosure.
  • Royal commentator Shauna Kay slammed the flip-flopping, saying it makes the King look “dithery”. She told The Vintage Read Show: “Backflips are not good. It makes people very unstable, unsure, it makes the king look really dithery.”
  • Kay argued the Palace missed a trick by not using Easter to show unity, calling it “PR gold” that was squandered. She believes the move exposes a lack of coordination at the top.
  • The saga adds fuel to claims of a rift between King Charles and Prince William, with Kay warning it “benefits people who want to do away with the monarchy”.
