Man plunges from Jet2 aircraft at Manchester Airport earlier than take-off to Tenerife

A man suffered serious multiple injuries including leg and arm fractures after falling from the back of a Jet2 aircraft at Manchester Airport shortly before its departure to Tenerife

A man thought to be an aircraft engineer sustained serious injuries after plunging from the rear of a plane at Manchester Airport. Emergency crews rushed to the airport in the early hours of Saturday morning following the shocking incident.

The individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered severe multiple injuries including fractures to his legs and arms, according to the Manchester Evening News. He is believed to remain hospitalised following the incident which occurred at approximately 8am on Saturday.

Images captured at the scene reveal ambulances and fire brigade response units encircling a Jet2 aircraft in the immediate wake of the incident.

The carrier has since confirmed that a ‘full’ investigation is now underway, reports the Manchester Evening News.

According to onlookers, medical screens were erected around the wounded man while emergency services responded. The individual is understood to have been a contractor employed by Jet2 at the time. His name has not been released.

The aircraft can be seen in the photographs with a rear door ajar near the tail section. Mobile steps typically used by passengers are also visible in the vicinity.

Manchester Airport confirmed North West Ambulance Service responded to the incident. The aircraft was reportedly scheduled to fly to Tenerife. A Jet2 spokesperson stated: “We are aware of an incident that took place at Manchester Airport this morning (Saturday 11th April) involving an individual from a third-party provider.

“We are unable to confirm further details at present, however, can confirm that a full investigation has been launched.

“We are doing our best to provide support to everyone who needs it.”

The carrier offered no additional remarks regarding the incident or the resulting status of the flight.

Meanwhile, two people have reportedly been injured in a train stabbing in New York. Cops swarmed in and have shot the suspect.

Two individuals were hospitalised in critical condition following a reported shooting and stabbing incident at Grand Central Terminal in New York. The incident prompted police to rush individuals off a train. Number four and six trains are currently bypassing the terminal due to the ongoing investigation.

Police shot a man after he stabbed at least two people, possibly with a machete, police sources said, reports New York Post. The incident happened on the 4, 5, 6 subway platform around 9:50 a.m. at the iconic station in Midtown Manhattan. The man’s identity and condition were not immediately released.
