A cruel man has reportedly been arrested on a felony warrant after police allege he stomped a two-and-a-half-week-old husky puppy to death during a violent brawl
A heartless man has reportedly been arrested after allegedly killing a two-week-old puppy. The cruel culprit was arrested on a felony warrant, meaning police already had legal authority to detain him over the serious allegation.
The Biloxi Police Department in Mississippi, USA reportedly said 33-year-old Bradford Duplantis was taken into custody Friday (April 10) on an active felony warrant for aggravated cruelty to a dog. Police said the arrest stems from an investigation that started earlier this month after officers responded to a medical call.
During that investigation, authorities said they learned Duplantis killed a two-and-a-half-week-old husky puppy. Duplantis was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $25,000 (£18,550) bond.
US reports say the trouble began on April 4, when a fight broke out on Beach Boulevard, a prominent street in Mississippi, involving Duplantis and two other men, Matthew Bolton and Austin Delano, following alleged derogatory comments. The confrontation then reportedly continued at a home on Floyd Drive, where Bolton and Delano are accused of assaulting Duplantis again.
During the series of clashes, Duplantis is alleged to have fatally stomped the young puppy, WLOX (channel 13) reported. Police initially attended a medical call on Jim Money Road, where Duplantis was found with life-threatening injuries, which authorities say were caused by the alleged assault.
Bolton and Delano were later reportedly arrested and charged with aggravated assault in connection with Duplantis’ injuries. After being released from hospital, Duplantis reportedly turned himself on Friday and was arrested on a felony warrant for aggravated cruelty to a dog.
In the UK, several cases of extreme animal cruelty involving young dogs have recently been prosecuted. Most recently, in Edinburgh, a man was jailed after a violent confrontation that resulted in the death of a dog named Goldie.
The man reportedly confronted another individual outside a supermarket while armed with a metal pole.
During the clash, the man kicked a dog and struck her in the head with the metal pole, causing a broken neck that resulted in her death, the Daily Express reported.
He pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and was handed a prison sentence.
Earlier this year, a man in Nottingham was jailed for two years after repeatedly kicking and punching his 14-week-old XL Bully puppy, Milo.
The puppy was found with broken ribs, broken legs, and cigarette burns to its face, leading a judge to describe the abuse as “sadistic”.
