A livid mum has slammed a UK holiday park as “disgusting” after her family was denied access to the final night’s entertainment. Ellen Jones, 40, from Camborne, has filed an official complaint about her experience at the Parkdean Resort in Cornwall.

The mother-of-three was holidaying at the Lizard Point Holiday Park in Ruan Minor for the weekend and feels she was unfairly treated because she complained about the way a security guard spoke to her family during a missing child incident. The holiday park, however, maintains that restrictions were due to “inappropriate behaviour” towards staff.

“I booked the weekend for myself and my family and my sister booked for herself and her family,” Ms Jones detailed, noting that one of her teenage nieces went missing for a while during their stay. “My sister (her step mum) spent an hour looking for her but wasn’t able to locate her so she spoke to security.

“The security guard asked how long she had been missing and my sister explained it’s been an hour and she had already been to look for her. He then proceeded to tell us with an attitude she should call the police as a child is missing.

“Thankfully she was found and all was good. We went to the evening entertainment as a family and felt we were being watched all evening but didn’t let it bother us,” reports Cornwall Live.

On the final night, she was taken aback when security denied her entry. “They told me it was due to our attitude which was a shock as we hadn’t done anything wrong.

“My children and my nieces were extremely upset as they were looking forward to seeing the characters and enjoying the entertainment. “

Ellen has since filed an official complaint, asserting that the family being barred was a consequence of reporting the security incident, maintaining she was “well within my rights to do so”. She has asked for staff to review CCTV footage to verify that the family never displayed any rudeness, but is still awaiting a response.

“I feel like I’m being pushed from pillar to post,” Ellen added.

“We couldn’t see the last night of entertainment that we’ve paid for. It’s disgusting. There was no attitude whatsoever from our family.”

A representative for Lizard Point Holiday Park responded: “The family were restricted from entering the entertainment venue due to inappropriate behaviour towards our staff. The safety and wellbeing of our team and guests is always our priority, and we have a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour.”
