Cops are said to have swooped on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they knew the celebrity was planning to attend the event and he was nicked at about 8pm as the undercard began
A celebrity was arrested on suspicion of rape by cops who swooped at Tottenham’s stadium before the Tyson Fury fight.
The unnamed star was said to have been cuffed as he prepared to watch the heavyweight clash in a VIP area last Saturday.
He was then quizzed by detectives on suspicion of the rape and sexual assault of a female victim at a home in North London earlier this year.
The man, said to be in his 30s, has since been released on bail. He was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to see Tyson Fury take on Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Detectives are understood to have timed the arrest because they were aware he would be attending the event, the Sun reported.
The celebrity was reportedly arrested at about 8pm as the undercard began and was escorted away by police.
A source told the paper: “The star turned up and was in an exclusive area of the ground with friends, when he was nicked.
“It was a targeted pre-planned operation and he was stunned. Some people saw it but the police were trying to be discreet.
“It was over an allegation from earlier this year. It was a surprising swoop.
“The police spoke to him to explain the arrest, before leading him away for questioning. It obviously meant he missed the whole event.”
A Met Police spokesperson said the arrest related to sexual offences which allegedly occurred in Golders Green in January.
