Emergency services were called to Clacton Airfield today after a light aircraft crashed into a field, leaving two people injured
Two people were injured following a plane crash this afternoon. Emergency crews were called to Clacton Airfield at approximately 12.10pm today (April 25). Upon arrival at the scene, responders discovered that a light aircraft had come down in the field. Reports indicate there was no blaze, merely smoke billowing from the aircraft.
Nobody was trapped within the plane. Two passengers aboard the small two-seater craft sustained injuries which are fortunately not life-threatening. It was confirmed that both individuals received only ‘minor’ injuries. Additional investigations will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
An Essex Police spokesperson stated: “Emergency services attended reports of a collision involving a light aircraft at Clacton Airfield. We were first called shortly after 12.10pm on Saturday 25 April.”, reports Essex Live.
“Two occupants of the small two-seater aircraft suffered injuries which are thankfully not life-threatening. They have received treatment. Ambulance and fire service colleagues also attended the scene. Further enquiries will be led by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.”
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson commented: “Firefighters were called to Clacton Airfield at 12.09pm today after a light aircraft crashed into the field. There was no fire, just smoke coming out of the plane. There was no one trapped, two people were left in the care of the Ambulance Service and treated for minor injuries.”
