Ohio has seen a surge in reported Bigfoot sightings recently, with a local researcher suggesting the creature may have been pushed into closer contact with humans due to flooded habitat
An eyewitness has described an “unusual” feature of ‘Bigfoot’ after he claimed to have seen the mythical beast in Ohio.
Todd Neese, founder of the American Primate Conservancy and a Bigfoot researcher for more than 30 years, explained why Ohio happens to be the site of fresh Bigfoot ‘activity’ recently.
“Ohio is actually, believe it or not, ranked number 4 of all the states in the United States that have sightings, so it isn’t really all that unusual. There seems to be a little pocket of them in them there woods, if you will,” Neese told a Fox News presenter.
His remarks follow a surge of reported Bigfoot activity in northeast Ohio after a prolonged period without similar encounters. Since March, reports have “been pouring in” throughout Portage County, with alleged sightings concentrated between Akron and Youngstown – roughly 50 miles apart – alongside photographs circulating online of enormous footprints thought to measure approximately 17 inches long, indicating a creature that could reach at least seven feet in height.
Several witnesses now suggest the “animal” may not be solitary, with theories that an entire “family” of sasquatches could be wandering the region, according to Fox 9. Eyewitness accounts have described creatures ranging from 6 to 10 feet tall, covered in dark fur, and walking upright on two legs.
One report mentioned broad shoulders, “unusually long” arms, and even the feeling that the creature was so massive it caused the ground to shake. Neese claims he transformed from sceptic to believer following a close encounter during a military exercise in Oregon in 1993.
Speaking to Fox News, Neese revealed that he and three other soldiers were watched by “three of these creatures” for approximately 25 seconds – an experience he insists altered “the entire course” of his life, reports the Express US.
“I was not interested in the subject whatsoever, and growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I did, it’s it it was part of the vernacular, but to me it was an urban legend, if you will. But all that changed for me in 1993 while conducting a military exercise in the Oregon Coast Range. I and three other soldiers were exposed to 3 of these, 3 of these, these creatures observing our exercises and those 25 seconds changed the entire course of my life,” Neese explained.
When describing what he witnessed, Neese stated the figures didn’t appear “all that human” at close quarters, highlighting what he termed disproportionate silhouettes – particularly unusually lengthy arms and leg proportions relative to a human torso.
“Well, not, not really all that human,” Neese described. “They, what I had observed was that they were, their silhouette, if you will, the, the was completely disproportionate in terms of the arm length and even the, the length of the legs as it pertains to a human torso.
“Obviously, very large, the ones I saw, ranged between 7 to 9 ft in height. They do tend to have a more human-like face, but obviously just hair covered. Very large, very athletic,” said Neese. When questioned about why, in an era saturated with cameras, crystal-clear images remain elusive, Neese contended it’s primarily down to probability. “They’re just a very rare species, and so if you look at dispersing 1000, a million cameras out in the wild, it’s just the odds of getting one to fall just right through that particular picture zone is very, very difficult,” Neese explained.
Local investigator Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, has connected the surge in sightings in the region to this year’s brutal, storm-battered winter, proposing that flooded habitats might force the beast into unfamiliar terrain and heighten the likelihood of human encounters.
Miller also claims he has captured howling noises he maintains don’t correspond to any “known animal in North America,” asserting some cries measured higher than a baboon on a spectrograph.
Another account shared by Bigfoot Society podcast presenter Jeremiah Byron featured a walker’s assertion that the being turned its shoulders instead of its head – a detail Byron described as meaningful to dedicated Bigfoot enthusiasts.
The same eyewitness reported a potent, musky odour, a low grunt-like sound, and stated the encounter was so swift and disturbing that they retreated without venturing any nearer. Despite the mounting number of accounts, no definitive photograph has surfaced thus far.
