X-files eerily predicted Hantavirus as ‘plague to finish all plagues’ again in 1998

As health authorities across the globe track and trace an outbreak of the deadly hantavirus, an almost 30-year-old clip of the X-Files has emerged with creepy similarities to real life

The X-Files eerily predicted the hantavirus outbreak almost three decades ago. In a dodgy back alley, crackpot writer Dr Alvin Kurtzweil tells Agent Mulder of a mysterious virus surging in suburban Texas.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were called out to deal with the surge of hantavirus, which Kurtzweil says is a red flag for something more sinister going on. He goes on to warn Agent Mulder of a “plague to end all plagues”.

The prediction is made all the more eery considering it was made almost 30 years ago in The X-Files: Fight The Future, a feature-length film released in 1998. It comes as health authorities across the world are battling hantavirus after the deadly disease ripped through a luxury cruise ship.

A third British national has been infected with the rat-borne virus which experts fear is now transmitting from human to human. In the creepy X-Files clip, Dr Alvin Kurtzweil says: “According to the newspaper, FEMA was called out to manage an outbreak of the hantavirus.

“Are you familiar with what the Federal Emergency Agency’s real power is? FEMA allows the White House to suspend constitutional government upon declaration of a national emergency. Think about that.

“What is an agency with such broad sweeping power doing managing a small viral outbreak in suburban Texas.”

Agent Moulder then asks: “You are saying it wasn’t such a small outbreak”

Dr Kurtzweil says: “I’m saying it wasn’t the hantavirus… When we were young men in the military, your father and I were recruited for a project. They told us it was biological warfare, a virus.”

Agent Moulder asks: “What killed those men?”

Dr Kurtzweil responds: “What killed them I won’t even write about. We have no context for what killed those men or any appreciation of the scale it will be unleashed in the future.

“A plague to end all plagues agent Mulder. A silent weapon for a quiet war. The systematic release of an organism which the men who will bring it on still have no cure.

“They’ve been working on this for 50 years. While the rest of the world have been fighting crooks and commies, these men have secretly negotiating a planned armageddon.”

The X-Files show further explored the Hantavirus plot which turned out to be a cover-up for alien-human hybrid experiments. When a group of kids in a small Texas town discovered a cave full of “alien black oil virus”, the town becomes infected.

FEMA are sent in decked out in hazmat suits for what they public is told is an outbreak of hantavirus. Let’s hope the second part of the X-Files plot is not accurate.
