A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing and later died. He has been named by friends as Dre Brown, a musician known as StanaMan
The individual at the heart of a murder investigation in Moss Side has been identified by devastated friends as Dre Brown.
Police were called to Raby Street around 11pm on Friday (May 8) following reports of a stabbing. A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital, where he tragically passed away.
Friends have since identified the man as Dre Brown. It is understood that his full first name was Adrian. Mr Brown was a musician, known by the stage name StanaMan. He is believed to have had three children. Tributes are pouring in on social media. One friend said: “RIP, Dre. You will be sadly missed. Gone far too soon. You were such a kind soul and amazing father.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Another person described him as a ‘good kid’. A mate wrote: “Rest in peace, Dre”. Natalie Brownlie posted: “RIP Dre.”
Jamie Whitehead said: “R.I.P Dre you was a good kid had a few laffs with you in the Claremont rest easy mate.”
Rheannee Blake posted: “Can’t believe it man he always had a smile on his face r.i.p stana man.” Marrisa Leigh posted: “Waking up to this news this morning honestly am speechless. You never really know how much life we have left. From God we came, and to Him we shall return. Rest easy. Dre Brown.”

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old man following the incident. He was being interrogated by detectives on Saturday after being taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
A police cordon remained in place on Raby Street, near Westwood Street, on Saturday afternoon. A forensic tent had been set up within the cordoned-off area.
Forensic experts were seen meticulously examining the scene, with evidence markers positioned along the street.
A spokesperson for GMP stated: “Officers responded to an incident in Raby Street, Moss Side following reports of an assault at around 11pm last night (08/05/26). One man aged in his 30s had injuries consistent with a stabbing was and taken to hospital, where he sadly died shortly after.
“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s family, who are being supported by specialist officers. One man, aged 18, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing.”
