An award-winning actor who rose to fame in a remake of the hit drama series Euphoria has died suddenly at the age of 25. Luna Jordan, who was recently cast to portray photographer Astrid Kirchherr in the forthcoming Beatles biographical series Hamburg Days, passed away last Wednesday (May 13).

The Berlin-based performer had recently participated in the NDR documentary Child Actors – The Price of Success, which aired just days before her death. In the documentary, she spoke openly about the intense pressures facing young performers in today’s television industry.

She said: “I sometimes lay crying on the floor for half an hour and didn’t know what was wrong with me. I can no longer destroy myself for such projects, otherwise I won’t be able to do this job at 25.”

Her agency, Players in Berlin, confirmed that Luna had died “suddenly and unexpectedly” in a statement yesterday (May 18).

The actress garnered critical acclaim early in her career, securing the prestigious Austrian Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2022 for her breakthrough performance in the prison drama Fuchs im Bau (Fox in a Hole).

Jordan was also a highly regarded campaigner within the film industry, using her 2022 acceptance speech to bravely call for systemic changes against sexualised abuse on sets.

In her acceptance speech, she said: “I am just 20 years old and I have already been a victim of sexual abuse on film sets and in theatres four times.

“That should not be normal, but it is.” She portrayed the character Sophia von Greve in the 2025 German remake of Euphoria.

Luna described the role as “cute but psycho” in an Instagram post from the Munich Film Festival premiere.

Beyond her breakout performance in the RTL+ Euphoria adaptation, she had gained recognition amongst international audiences for her work in the popular Netflix crime thriller series Schlafende Hunde (Sleeping Dog).

The versatile performer, who also penned screenplays and mastered several instruments, had recently been selected to play the legendary photographer Astrid Kirchherr in the forthcoming Beatles biographical series Hamburg Days, as reported by NeedToKnow.
