A large area near the promenade in Brighton, Sussex, was cordoned off by police after a teenager was stabbed during a large fight on the beach.
A teenage boy has been stabbed following reports of a huge brawl that erupted at Brighton Beach on Bank Holiday Monday (May 25).
Officers sealed off a substantial section near the seafront after the altercation kicked off past 9:00pm.
The teenage victim was rushed to hospital for treatment but police say he suffered “superficial” wounds.
Sussex Police has now issued an urgent plea for anyone with details about the stabbing to step forward as a manhunt is currently underway, reports the Express.
Their statement read: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was stabbed outside Shelter Hall in Brighton.
“It followed reports of a large group of people fighting in the area around 9.25pm on Monday 25 May.
“The victim, a boy from Surrey, was taken to hospital for treatment, where his injuries were confirmed to be superficial.”
Officers reportedly stayed at the location until midnight carrying out patrols in the area.
The beach was reportedly very busy at the time of the incident with police urging people to come forward with any information that could help the investigation.
Detective Inspector Jen Pietersen, of Brighton CID, said: “We know the beach was extremely crowded at the time of this incident.
“We’re urging anyone who can assist in our investigation to please come forward.
“Specifically, we’d like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or captured any relevant footage.
“You can report it online or via 101, quoting serial 1791 of 25/05.”
