A married teacher is accused of engaging in sexual relations with a pupil, with police believing there could be additional victims.

Samantha J. Watson, from Eastvale in Riverside County, southern California, was arrested on charges of transmitting harmful material to a minor alongside other sexual offences, according to authorities.

She was detained last Friday over the alleged sexual assaults between 2017 to 2018 while Watson was employed as a teacher at a charter school in Moreno Valley. The educator resides in Eastvale with her husband, Willie Watson, at their $1.2M (£750,000) home. The probe into Watson’s alleged crimes commenced on January 28, 2026, following allegations of inappropriate contact with a pupil, prompting the Riverside Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit to be alerted.

Police state the investigation continues and that additional victims may come forward, reports the Mirror.

A statement from the office of the Riverside County Sheriff reads: “On January 28, 2026, the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station’s Investigation Bureau began investigating allegations of inappropriate contact with a student at a school in Moreno Valley.

“The Riverside Sheriff’s Special Victims Unit was notified of the allegations and assumed the investigation. During the course of the investigation, investigators learned that during the timeframe of 2017 to 2018, the suspect, identified as Samantha J. Watson, a 41-year-old resident of Eastvale, was having inappropriate contact with a student while she was employed as a teacher by a Charter School located in the 23000 block of Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley.

“On May 22, 2026, investigators served a search warrant in the 14000 block of Silent Stream Court, Eastvale. Watson was taken into custody without incident. Watson was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Centre.”

The statement went on to say that the investigation remained active and that no additional details regarding the case would be disclosed presently, but added that there could be further alleged victims and “encourages” anyone who might have additional information to come forward.

This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
