Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has replaced KFC’s iconic Colonel Sanders ahead of the Gunner victory parade as the north London club marches to Budapest ahead of their Saturday fixture against PSG
KFC have subbed The Colonel for Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta. The fast food chain has given multiple of their beloved branches a makeover to celebrate Arsenal’s historic Premier League victory.
The iconic Colonel Sanders mascot has been temporarily replaced with the Gunners gaffer to celebrate Arsenal’s jaw dropping win in the Prem. Located deep in the heart of the Gunner territory in North London, the one-off makeover lands just as a sea of red and white floods the streets for the club’s official victory parade.
Arsenal fans have been invited to stop by, trust the process, and snap a picture with the limited-edition “Colonel Arteta” signs. The chicken chain has given its Finsbury Park, Highbury and Seven Sisters restaurants a tactical transformation. On the transformation a KFC spokesperson said: “Now we’ve got Super Mik Arteta, he knows exactly what we need. It takes a lot for the Colonel to give up his spot, but we’re happy to make an exception on this occasion – and let’s face it, he looks good in red.”
Footie fans across social media have made jokes at the hilarious Kentucky fried crossover.
One social media user took to Instagram and joked: “Set piece bucket,” referring to the Arsenal squad’s mastery over set-piece plays during their historic premier league run. The Arsenal squad made history in this season in the Prem, scoring 19 goals from corners alone, the most in Premier League history.
Another insta user joked: “KFC – Knows Football Corner.” A final one added: “KFC – miKel Fried Chicken.”
The hilarious Mikel Arteta signs are to remain on the numerous KFC branches until Monday as celebrations continue across North London.
The development comes as the Arsenal squad marches onwards to Budapest as the Gunners prepare for their UEFA Champions League game on Saturday. After clinching the Premier League title with a match to spare, Gunners supporters have been revelling in the club’s first league triumph in 22 years.
For Mikel Arteta and his squad, it’s back to the grind as they aim to secure a historic double by overcoming reigning champions and favourites Paris Saint-Germain in the Hungarian capital.
Arteta had the privilege of resting players for the final-day victory at Palace, ensuring most of the team is fit and rejuvenated for the crucial match. However, there are a few injury worries, particularly concerning Jurrien Timber, who is battling to be fit in time.
