Man ‘sexually assaulted after being adopted’ in Morrisons automobile park as arrest made

Northamptonshire Police are appealing for witnesses following the sexual assault of a man in a Morrisons car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton, as a 31-year-old male has been arrested

A man was allegedly sexually assaulted and followed in a car park of a major supermarket chain. The victim was allegedly approached and inappropriately touched by another man.

Northamptonshire Police said the suspect had pursued the alleged victim. The man was then helped by a group of teenagers in the area before leaving the car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton, at around 9pm last Wednesday (May 27).

Police have arrested a 31-year-old man from Northampton and he remains in custody following the incident.

The force are now appealing for the group of teens who came to the victim’s aid to come forward.

A spokesperson for Northampton Police said: “Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in the Morrisons car park on Victoria Promenade, Northampton.

“The incident happened between 8.50pm and 9pm on Wednesday, May 27, when a man was approached, inappropriately touched, and followed before seeking help and leaving the area.

“A 31-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.

“Officers are particularly keen to speak to the group of teenagers who assisted the victim, as they may have important information which could help with the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information is also urged to come forward.
