Harry Maguire has reportedly landed a new World Cup role after the Manchester United defender was snubbed by Thomas Tuchel.
The 33-year-old is one of several high-profile players to have been controversially left out of the England squad by Tuchel for the tournament in North America. Alongside his United team-mate Luke Shaw, who also missed out, Maguire played a starring role in turning around United’s form under Michael Carrick to finish 3rd in the Premier League.
But despite his form over the second half of the campaign and him being an integral part of England’s deep runs in recent international tournaments, Maguire has been left at home in place of Dan Burn and Jarell Quansah.

However, Maguire will still reportedly have a role to play this summer with it reported by The Athletic that Maguire will likely feature on Netflix’s ‘The Rest is Football’ show.
The new program will see the popular podcast transformed into a new TV format with Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards set to present alongside special guests.
Maguire has 66 England caps to his name but his World Cup snub could prove to be the end of his international career, with Tuchel unlikely to recall him back into the fold after failing to appreciate his strong performances.
The centre-back has played 28 times for England at major tournaments but will be having a completely different experience this time. News broke that Maguire would not be in the World Cup squad before the United defender took to social media to give an emotional statement.
He said: “I was confident I could of played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had. I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.
“I’ve loved nothing more than putting that shirt on and representing my country over the years. I wish the players, all the best this summer.”
Maguire’s family also didn’t take the shock news well, with his wife Fern writing: “Beyond devastated for you. There was nothing else you could have possibly done to prove your worth.
“I don’t need to tell you how admired you are, just a shame you were up against a single opinion.”
While his mum Zoe vented: “Absolutely disgusted. You couldn’t have done any more. Hold your head high… Disgraceful.”
