British Airways has suspended flights to four Middle East destinations until at least October 25 due to the ongoing conflict in the region, with full refunds available for affected passengers
British Airways has announced that flights will not restart to Dubai and three other Middle Eastern destinations until at least October, pushing back the resumption by two months from what was previously planned.
The carrier had earlier stated it would slash flights to several crucial Middle East destinations following the outbreak of the Iran conflict, with services to Dubai, Doha and Tel Aviv initially scheduled to return at the beginning of July.
British Airways has now revealed that the continuing turmoil in the Middle East has forced additional alterations to its flight timetable.
Services to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain and Amman are now not expected to restart until after the summer season concludes. The current target date for flights to recommence is October 25.
The airline cut flights to Doha to one daily service, down from two, with a return to the usual schedule now pencilled in for August 1.
Services to Riyadh also dropped from two to one per day. The standard timetable for those routes should restart on August 8, reports the Mirror.
“We’re keeping the situation under constant review and are directly in touch with affected customers to offer them a range of options,” the airline said.
“Since the disruption began, we’ve helped thousands of customers return home, operated relief flights, and added additional capacity on key long‐haul routes. We will continue to assess and introduce further flying where possible.” Passengers who have bookings to travel to or from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh on dates up to and including October 31 can ask for a complete refund, even if their flight remains on schedule.
As an alternative, passengers can alter the date or destination of their British Airways flight without paying a change of booking fee, though fare differences may still be applicable.
The fee-free rebooking option covers flights to or from Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Tel Aviv, and Riyadh as well as Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
