Sir Alex Ferguson has been spotted for the first time after his health scare ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool last month.
Sir Alex, 84, was rushed to hospital ahead of kick-off between the two bitter rivals, before he missed a high-profile appearance at the LMA Awards three weeks later. However, he has now been seen in public for the first time after returning to the public eye.
The iconic United manager was seen smiling for cameras as he posed with a fan at a restaurant in Wilmslow, Manchester. He looked in good spirits as the football fan shared the snap on his social media.

Captioning the photo, the superfan said: “Not every photo tells a story – some capture a feeling. I wasn’t shaking because I met a football legend.
“I was shaking because I was standing beside a man who helped shape the journey of my idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I’m not the biggest Manchester United fan, but my admiration for Sir Alex Ferguson and the special relationship he built with Ronaldo has always inspired me. A moment I’ll never forget. Thank you, Sir Alex.”
The photo was shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, as United fans expressed their happiness to see Sir Alex up and about.
Well-wishes from around the footballing world were paid to Fergie, with England manager Thomas Tuchel spending some time to talk about the living legend ahead of the World Cup.
Speaking at the LMA awards, he said: “It is of course, not the same without Sir Alex himself and we wish him all the best and a speedy recovery so that he is hopefully with us next year on stage again.
“Until then I have the privilege to read this letter to you, Frank [Lampard]. Dear Frank, many congratulations on being named LMA manager of the year. You should be very proud of what you and your team have accomplished.
“Your personality as a manager and a leader is so clearly defined in how your team has played great football this season – with confidence and self-belief and I have enjoyed watching you.
“I know from speaking with you that you have great humility and that important quality of a curious mind for learning. I’m sure winning this award will mean a great deal to you, Frank, and I wish you the best of luck in the Premier League next season.”
