US President Donald Trump has faced renewed online ridicule after a geriatric physical therapist claimed he showed “stroke-like” signs while appearing to doze off at a June 4 Oval Office briefing
US President Donald Trump’s health has once again sparked ridicule as a physical therapist claimed the American leader, who is about to turn 80, appeared to suffer a “stroke-like event” during a recent public appearance.
Taking to his Instagram page yesterday (June 5), Adam James, who posts as @epistemiccrisis and specialises in geriatrics, exclaimed: “Don Snorleone had a stroke on camera yesterday.” James proceeded to give a detailed, point-by-point medical-style observation of Trump’s recent public appearance at an Oval Office press briefing on “clean coal” on Thursday (June 4).
James, who is also a doctor in his field with 14 years experience, argued that Trump suffered a “stroke-like event or a stroke on camera” after the president went largely out of public view for six days, from May 27 to June 3.
“He suffered a stroke and they were trying to get him to recover enough to go back on camera,” James said. He further explained: “Number one is this posture.
“I’ve had so many stroke patients over the years that the stroke has affected the strength and the tone of the muscles on one side of their trunk and they cannot maintain upright posture. But when he’s very fatigued and falling asleep, he’s going to lean to one side.”
The content creator continued: “That right there was the worst instance of expressive aphasia, a common symptom of left sided stroke on the left side of the brain where your language centers are, I have ever seen from him to date. Did you hear him mumble through those words?
“And then he follows it up with ‘good’, he reaches for a very simple word because he knows ‘I can’t talk right now’. Expressive aphasia is different from phonemic paraphasia which is a typical dementia symptom but he got dementia and a history of stroke.
“So it’s kind of tough to tell sometimes, but that sounded like expressive aphasia. Now, in this next clip, I want you to watch his jaw slightly shift left and right.
“The more that his jaw shifts to his right, the more asleep he is because he has a right-sided facial droop from a history of stroke. And his jaw is becoming weaker and more slack-jawed also because of dementia.
“But you can literally see his jaw slip in and out of awake, asleep, awake, asleep. I am so delighted because this is the worst I have ever seen him.”
James concluded: “And I can’t wait for it to get worse. At this point, he’s on 43 days of borrowed time.”
In the clip James was analysing, Trump was attending an official administration appearance focused on deregulation and environmental policy, with a particular emphasis on “clean coal”. During the briefing, Trump addressed reporters before giving the floor to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin.
As Burgum and Zeldin spoke, Trump leaned back in his chair and appeared to close his eyes, with viewers online claiming he looked as though he was dozing off. It has never been officially confirmed that Trump has suffered a stroke, dementia or any other neurological condition, despite persistent claims circulating online.
The White House and Trump’s medical team have repeatedly rejected such suggestions, saying public speculation is not backed by medical evidence.
