A chilling moment when a toddler was seen dangling from a ledge in London has been captured on camera, with terrified bystanders left to watch the horrifying scene unfold below.

The video depicts a young girl clinging to a window ledge above a bustling high street shop before her grip fails.

The child is seen hanging above a pawnbroker’s shop on Ilford High Road in East London, as a crowd gathers to witness the nerve-wracking incident.

Onlookers can do nothing but watch from the streets as the girl clings on for dear life.

At one point, a distressed woman appears from a lower window, shouting up to the child while a police officer and another man attempt a rescue operation.

A shirtless man, clad in grey tracksuit bottoms, positions himself directly beneath the girl, joined by an officer who has hurried to the scene.

Both men are perched on the roof at the moment when the young girl’s grip finally gives way.

Gasps echo from the crowd at this heart-stopping moment as the child falls from the ledge.

However, the quick-thinking member of the public manages to catch the girl, both of them steadied by the police officer.

A collective sigh of relief ripples through the crowd, accompanied by cheers and words of encouragement. The girl was then passed back through the lower window from which the woman had emerged.

The man and the police officer share a hug as the crowd applauds their heroic efforts.
