A woman has gone viral after she was filmed twerking to the beat of Nicky Jam and Daddy Yankee’s 1999 hit ‘En La Cama’ on her husband’s coffin in a bizarre funeral send-off
A grieving widow was filmed twerking on her deceased husband’s coffin during a bizarre farewell ceremony. Baffling footage shows a number of teary-eyed mourners clapping along to reggaeton music while wearing T-shirts printed with a photo of the deceased.
Two men in baseball caps could be seen rapping into microphones beside the open coffin, with the deceased’s head visible through the viewing panel.
The late man’s bereaved wife was seen wiggling her hips against the side of the casket as other mourners cheered her on. She then lifted one leg, then the other, onto the coffin, before pumping her hand in the air to the thumping beat of Nicky Jam and Daddy Yankee’s 1999 hit “En La Cama”.
Visibly glassy-eyed, the widow resumed twerking before inviting another woman to “perform” against the casket in Mexico. The eyebrow-raising clip was shared by Peruvian artist Cristian Huancahuari, who goes by the name “El Cangri del Callao”.
He wrote alongside the post: “Fly high, my uncle Jean ‘ ‘anga’.” Huancahuari is known for offering private shows at wakes and funerals as an alternative way of honouring the deceased with joy.
The clip has racked up millions of views since being posted on Saturday (27 June). One viewer remarked: “Dancing reggaeton while you cry is on another level.”
Another wrote: “What a beautiful way to say goodbye to someone. He must have been someone who found joy in the saddest moments, and that’s how they honoured him.” And a third joked: “There’s more atmosphere here than at my aunt Marisol’s wedding.”
It comes after a funeral erupted into mayhem when a body tumbled out of the coffin’s base while it was being transported to its final resting place. The corpse dropped onto the floor in plain sight of horrified mourners.
The bearers frantically tried to place the body back into the coffin, briefly stopping the service amid scenes of alarm. The botched funeral occurred in Guyana, the sole country in mainland South America where English is the official language, on Sunday (May 24).
The footage went viral on Facebook with 450,000 views and over 1,000 comments.
