Britain is bracing for another blistering bout of sweltering weather, with the Met Office forecasting “warm or very warm” temperatures and heatwave conditions appearing “increasingly likely”.

The alert for early next week emerges as the latest weather models from forecaster WXCharts reveal 26 counties are facing temperatures of 30C or above by Tuesday (July 7).

The charts indicate the first 30C readings could materialise as early as Saturday, with Kent expected to bear the brunt.

By Monday (July 6), the heat is predicted to escalate with London and surrounding regions experiencing temperatures of 30C and 31C, while parts of Gloucestershire anticipate similar sweltering conditions.

On July 7, the scorching spell is forecast to expand further with peaks of 33C across Greater London and Berkshire, before the highest temperatures gradually shift eastwards across the nation, reports the Mirror.

This latest prediction follows last week’s extreme heat, when provisional UK June temperature records were shattered on three consecutive days, reaching a peak of 37.7C on Friday in Norfolk.

Much of England and Wales found itself under red and amber extreme heat warnings as the Met Office urged the public to take necessary precautions.

Met Office verdict

Looking towards the weekend, Deputy Chief Forecaster Tony Wisson explained that high pressure is anticipated to develop across much of the UK. He stated: “Toward the weekend, high pressure will continue to build in across most of the UK as it extends from the Azores. This will lead to more settled, warm or very warm conditions for many, especially across England and Wales, though some rain may still affect the far north.”

The Met Office has predicted that temperatures could soar into the high 20s in parts of England this weekend, with certain areas in the southeast potentially hitting 30C. Wales could also experience highs in the mid to high 20s.

Weather experts have suggested that another heatwave is becoming increasingly probable in some regions of the UK early next week.

However, the Met Office emphasised that it does not currently anticipate temperatures or humidity reaching the extreme levels seen during last week’s record-breaking heatwave.

Tony Wisson added: “Although a return to heatwave conditions is looking increasingly likely for some areas, the likelihood of such extreme high temperatures or high levels of humidity as last week is currently low.”

Counties that could reach 30C or above by July 7

According to the latest WXCharts weather model, the following counties could see temperatures of 30C or higher at the beginning of next week:
