Former doomed Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has returned to the dugout after his appointment was confirmed by his new club just months after his Premier League nightmare
Liam Rosenior has landed a new managerial job months after his calamitous tenure at Chelsea came to an end.
The 41-year-old has returned to France after being appointed the new manager of Ligue 1 side Paris FC. Rosenior previously managed Strasbourg before Chelsea cherry picked him from their sister club. Rosenior has been linked with the Paris FC job and talks took place in recent days and weeks, but official confirmation has now come.
In a statement, Paris FC said: “Paris FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Liam Rosenior as head coach of its men’s first team. The English coach has signed a contract with the club until June 2028 and will take up his duties on Thursday, July 9, coinciding with the start of team training.

“Aged 41, Liam Rosenior already boasts considerable experience at the highest level. A former professional defender, he played 441 matches in the Premier League and Championship between 2002 and 2018 before embarking on a coaching career in 2020. Having managed clubs such as Derby County, Hull City, RC Strasbourg, and Chelsea, he quickly established himself as one of the most promising coaches of his generation.
“Known for his ability to nurture young talent, Liam Rosenior is a perfect fit for the philosophy and sporting project championed by Paris FC. His approach to ambitious, attractive, and attacking football resonates with the club’s future ambitions.
“He will succeed Antoine Kombouaré, who secured Paris FC’s Ligue 1 McDonald’s survival before finishing the season in a respectable 11th place. After this season and following discussions between all parties involved, it was decided to end this collaboration in order to open a new chapter in the club’s history.
“Paris FC welcomes Liam Rosenior and thanks Antoine Kombouaré for his work during his time at the club. They wish him all the best for the future of his career.”
The Parisian side are owned by the ambitious LVMH luxury group and plan to kick on from an 11th place finish last season, in a campaign where they beat Monaco and PSG.
Rosenior won 11 of his 23 matches in charge of Chelsea and is remembered for his bizarre speech about his players wanting to ‘respect’ the football when they circled around referee Paul Tierney on the centre circle for a team huddle.
The moment has been mocked and Rosenior, unfortunately, will have to do plenty right at the Stade Jean-Bouin to win back any acclaim from English fans after a woeful 23 game and three-and-a-half-month tenure at Stamford Bridge.
